Director of Nursing in Vancouver, WA Responsibilities:

As the Director of Nursing in Vancouver, you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing the nursing team while ensuring the highest standards of patient care. Your leadership will directly impact the facility’s operational success, regulatory compliance, and overall patient experience. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leadership & Program Support – Uphold and support the organization’s mission, values, and philosophy of care by fostering a compassionate, patient-centered approach within all nursing units.
  • Team Management & Supervision – Lead and mentor the nursing management team, providing guidance and support to ensure staff deliver high-quality, evidence-based care. Promote a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and professional growth.
  • Interdisciplinary Communication – Act as a liaison between physicians, patients, referral sources, and employees, ensuring seamless coordination of care. Facilitate open communication and teamwork across all departments.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance – Oversee adherence to nursing policies, procedures, and all state, federal, and accreditation standards. Conduct regular audits, implement corrective actions when necessary, and maintain a culture of compliance and excellence.
  • Operational Oversight & Performance Metrics – Monitor and evaluate nursing department performance by analyzing patient care metrics, staffing levels, and operational efficiency. Prepare and present comprehensive monthly reports to senior leadership, providing data-driven insights and recommendations for improvements.
  • Patient Safety & Advocacy – Ensure that all nursing practices align with best practices for patient safety, infection control, and overall well-being. Advocate for patient needs and implement initiatives that enhance the quality of care.
  • Strategic Planning & Program Development – Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement initiatives that improve nursing operations, patient satisfaction, and employee engagement. Identify areas for innovation and process improvements to enhance service delivery.

Requirements:

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Director of Nursing in Vancouver to join our dedicated healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of patient care, and a commitment to maintaining high standards in nursing operations. Below are the key qualifications and requirements for this role:

Education

  • A postgraduate degree in nursing or a related field (e.g., healthcare administration, or business administration) is required.
  • Candidates who do not yet possess these qualifications must provide a written plan outlining their intent and timeline to obtain the necessary degree.

Licensure & Certifications

  • A current, unencumbered State Board of Nursing license is required to practice in the state of Washington.
  • CPR Certification and Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) must be completed within 30 days of employment and prior to any direct patient interaction.

Experience & Skills

  • Prior experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility is preferred, demonstrating an understanding of behavioral health best practices.
  • Experience working directly with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric, and geriatric patient populations is highly valued.
  • A strong background in patient assessments, family engagement, treatment planning, and communication with external review organizations (or comparable entities) is essential.
  • Previous leadership experience is strongly preferred, including the ability to manage nursing teams, oversee compliance with healthcare regulations, and drive operational success.
